Commercial projects allow us to express design flair and implement various contemporary or mainstream architectural styles which are inspired by location, the site, building function and most important; the clients vision and expectations.
Commercial projects come in a number of shapes and sizes intergrading various criteria or processes. We have worked on retail units, cafes, bars, restaurants and industrial premises such as process facilities and factories.
Most commercial building often move away from traditional building methods and this is for us, often the most interesting part of the project. We enjoy the technical aspect of architecture and have completed a number of projects utilising various building techniques.

Health sector buildings require a full understanding of operation and functional requirements and that is what we do. We are aware that the range of functions of such a facility often change over time, we can can provide flexibility and adaptability through the design process to ensure the building is future-proofed.
We pride ourselves on the ability to research and digest information or implement legislation and design criteria, through experience, to deliver successful projects and create spaces that move away from ‘institutional’ environments.

Passivhaus / Low Carbon Building
Whether your interest lies with developing a project that complies with the current Building Regulations fabric first approach or would like to develop a low carbon or Passivhaus project, we here to help. Using the ‘Passivhaus Planning Package’ we can develop your residential or commercial project to comply with the design criteria set out by the Passivhaus institute.
We have been involved in the design and certification of both commercial and residential projects for a number of years. If Passivhaus certification is not for you then we are able to use the principles of design and methods of construction to develop a low carbon and sustainable project. A Passivhaus combines high level comfort with very low energy consumption.
The most important principle of a Passivhaus is insulation applied continuously around the building envelope without thermal bridging. This significantly reduces heat loss, especially during winter. Internal surfaces are almost the same as the indoor air temperature due to the high levels of insulation.
This leads to a very comfortable indoor climate and avoids damage caused by the humidity of indoor air. The high efficiency of a Passivhaus dramatically reduces Co2 emissions and reduces the demand on natural resources. The Passivhaus standard has been around for many years in Europe and has been tried and tested thousands of times. Recently more and more projects are being completed here in the UK with great success.

BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a 3D modelling process with an integrated collection of data and information supported by a philosophy and process, which aims to ensure full collaboration between construction professionals. The management and integration of information including the production of the Building Information Model provides a digital description of all aspects of the build asset. This information is utilised through the design and construction process and is handed over to the client providing crucial data to assist with building management throughout the whole life cycle of the asset.
The adoption of BIM is becoming widespread with many clients and stakeholders requesting BIM to be
implemented on projects to assist with costs control and value, reduction in design and building programmes and timescales, building a team environment during the design and construction process and increased carbon performance. Clients are also now aware that BIM can provide significant benefits to how a building is managed and maintained.
JPH Architects have in house qualified BIM practitioners and are working in line with the BIM level 2 criteria. We are passionate about innovation and believe that the future of the construction industry is digital! Over the next year or so, we will be looking to achieve BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification.
